AI search optimization for businesses that want to be cited, not just ranked.

AI SEO for businesses that want to show up when customers ask ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, or Claude. We make your site easy for AI to crawl, understand, and cite, as part of the SEO work we already do every month.

How AI search works

What AI search actually reads

AI assistants don’t rank ten blue links. They look pages up, read them, and write an answer with a few sources attached. To be one of those sources, your pages have to be reachable by their crawlers, readable without guesswork, and worth quoting.

AfterAn example, with a made-up business

An example with a made-up roofing company. Before: a firewall rule blocks the assistant’s crawler at the first check, so its answer cites another roofer. After: the site passes all four checks (reach the page, read it, know who you are, find an answer to quote), and the answer cites the company.

What the assistant needs from your site

  1. Reach the pagerobots.txt and the firewall let its crawler in
  2. Read itThe content is in the HTML and loads quickly
  3. Know who you areSchema, a clear About page, and the same name, address, and phone everywhere
  4. Find an answer to quoteA clear paragraph that answers the question

Before our work, a firewall rule blocked the assistant’s crawler, so it cited another roofer.

  • Google AI Overviews and AI Mode

Built from pages in Google’s index. Google says the usual SEO basics apply: a page has to be indexed and eligible for a snippet to be shown as a supporting link.

  • ChatGPT

ChatGPT search looks things up on the live web and links its sources. OpenAI’s OAI-SearchBot is the crawler that makes a site eligible to appear there.

  • Perplexity

Searches the web for every answer and cites the pages it used. Its crawler is PerplexityBot.

  • Claude

Claude can search the web and cite what it finds. Anthropic runs separate crawlers for search and for model training, and you can allow one without the other.

  • Microsoft Copilot

Draws on Bing’s index, so a site Bing can crawl and understand is part of the job too.

Where your customers are asking

The AI assistants your customers ask

The assistants we check your site against, so it can be read, understood, and cited in each of them.

Names and marks belong to their owners. We’re not affiliated with any of them.

What we do

The work that gets a site read and cited

  • Crawlability for AI bots

Pages that send their content as HTML, load quickly, and aren’t blocked by a firewall or CDN rule nobody remembers adding.

  • robots.txt and AI crawler policy

A deliberate choice of which bots get in. Search crawlers and training crawlers are different bots, and you can treat them differently.

  • llms.txt

A plain-language map of your site for AI assistants, written, checked, and kept current with LLMs Ledger, the tool we built.

  • Schema and entity data

Structured data for your organization, services, and locations, with the same name, address, and phone everywhere, so machines know exactly who you are.

  • Content written as clear answers

Pages that answer the questions your customers ask, in plain sentences an assistant can quote without rewriting.

  • Google Business Profile and citations

A complete, current profile and consistent directory listings, which AI answers about local businesses often draw on.

  • AI referrals in GA4

A channel in Google Analytics for visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, and Claude, so you can see what AI search sends you.

  • A monthly check

We ask the assistants the questions your customers ask, note whether you show up and who gets cited instead, and adjust.

Our own tool

Questions

AI SEO questions

What is AI SEO?

Making your site easy for AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Claude to find, read, and cite. You’ll also see it called AI search optimization or generative engine optimization (GEO). It builds on regular SEO rather than replacing it.

Can you guarantee we’ll be cited by ChatGPT or show up in AI Overviews?

No. Nobody controls what an AI assistant says, and anyone who guarantees citations or rankings is guessing. We make your site as easy as possible to read and cite, and we check how it shows up every month.

How long does it take to see results?

The first fixes ship in 2–3 weeks. Being cited takes longer, and no one can guarantee it, so we watch the data as it comes in and keep adjusting from there.

Should we block AI crawlers?

Usually not the ones that power search answers, since blocking them can keep you out of those answers. Training crawlers are a separate choice. We’ll set your robots.txt to match what you decide.

Do we need an llms.txt file?

It’s quick to add and does no harm, but no AI company has committed to reading it, so it’s one small part of the work, not the main event. You can check yours for free with LLMs Ledger.

How is AI search optimization priced?

It’s part of our SEO plans, which run $1,500 to $50,000 a month, tailored to your marketing budget and the demand and traffic you want, or part of a custom AI consulting retainer. Both are month to month.

Can AI read your site?

The free website check covers speed, search health, and AI readiness. A short report, not a sales call.
